The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) classified as a “psychological terror video” the images that Hamas released this Wednesday (24) of a hostage of American-Israeli citizenship held by the terrorist group in the Gaza Strip.

In the video, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23, who was attacked and kidnapped by Hamas at a music festival during the October 7 attacks, appears with part of his left arm amputated and describes the conditions of captivity as “hell.” , living “underground, without water, without food, without sun, without the medical care that I have needed so much for a long, long time.”

Certainly coerced, Goldberg-Polin criticizes the Israeli government and corroborates a Hamas claim that Israel had killed 70 hostages in bombings.

“Benjamin Netanyahu [primeiro-ministro israelense] and your government should be ashamed,” he says. “You should be ashamed for abandoning us for 200 days and all the Army’s efforts failed,” says the young man.

In a message released hours later, IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said the video was “an urgent call to action” and that Israeli forces “will take all necessary measures in our efforts to locate the our hostages.”

“This psychological horror video is not just a reminder of what Hamas did on October 7th. It is a reminder of how sick this terrorist group is, also terrorizing hostages and their families,” said Hagari.

On October 7, Hamas killed 1,200 people in Israel and kidnapped around 250. After hostage exchanges with Palestinian prisoners, rescues and recovery of bodies in recent months, 133 hostages remain in Gaza. Israeli intelligence estimates that at least 30 of them are dead.
