Israel confirms having launched an ‘offensive action’ in southern Lebanon | RFi

Israel confirmed this Thursday (25) that it had launched an ‘offensive action’ in southern Lebanon, with bombings, yesterday, against Hezbollah group infrastructures in two locations. Lebanese media also blame Israel for a drone attack this morning in eastern Lebanon, which hit a truck transporting fuel and left one person injured. But this attack has not been confirmed by Tel Aviv so far.

The Israeli Armed Forces also bombed several sectors of the Gaza Strip today, including the surroundings of Rafah, in the south of the enclave.

The Israeli army indicated that it had reached 30 Hamas targets, such as buildings, where weapons were stored. Several members of the group were also killed, according to the Israeli military.

In the region of the Nusseirat refugee camp, in the center of the Gaza Strip, clashes were also recorded between Israeli forces and fighters from the Hamas group.

In fact, last night, the Hamas group released a video of an Israeli hostage on Telegram: the first proof of a hostage’s life released in several months. In the images, a young man introduces himself as Hersh Goldberg Polin, 23 years old. He was kidnapped on October 7, 2023 at the music festival attacked by Hamas.

The young man harshly criticizes Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and claims that people held captive are suffering from a lack of food, water and medical care.

The Israeli association Forum for the Families of the Hostages reacted in a statement. The organization says the video is “an urgent call for rapid action to resolve the humanitarian crisis and ensure the return of the hostages to Israel.”
