SBT announced in the early afternoon of this Thursday (2) that Christina Rocha is no longer employed by the broadcaster. In a statement, Silvio Santos’ channel stated that they decided, by mutual agreement, to end the artistic contract between the parties. “Christina is and will always be an important part of the history of the broadcaster, as well as of Brazilian television, having contributed in a unique and valuable way to all the projects for which she was appointed”, says the note sent to Pop TV. The professional had been with the company since 1981.
Two weeks ago, the presenter left the presentation of Tá na Hora and was replaced by Márcia Dantas, who presented the weather forecast on SBT Brasil. At the time, Christina Rocha was shaken by the death of her brother-in-law and had chronic relationship problems with her co-workers. She asked to leave the newspaper that she ran alongside Marcão do Povo, and her request was accepted after an extensive meeting, which lasted until the end of the night on April 16th.
O Pop TV said at the time that Christina’s departure from Tá na Hora had already been discussed for a few weeks, even before her relative’s health problem. She was unable to adapt to the daily life of a daily police program, and piled up a sequence of unrepublican episodes throughout the first 30 days of the attraction. She made an effort to have a cordial relationship with Marcão do Povo, but she did not hide her dissatisfaction with being just a supporting journalist.
Before leaving Tá na Hora, the veteran didn’t even make a point of speaking to the electronic magazine’s team. With the attraction’s departure, it was even considered that she would be transferred to a new project, this time alongside Paulo Mathias, currently on the morning show Chega Mais — the duo, who got closer after the Tá na Hora pilots, became friends without of television. Before SBT was fired, there was a possibility that the two would take on a new daily program, in the early afternoons, in the second semester.

Christina Rocha began her career in the artistic world as a model. Her beauty and charisma caught the attention of Wilton Franco, who invited her to participate in films with Os Trapalhões. Christina then arrived on television on the program Aqui e Agora, on the now extinct TV Tupi, and in 1980, she became O Povo na TV, on TVS Rio.
At SBT, from 1981 onwards, Christina commanded several attractions in different programming genres such as games, variety, line of shows, sport and journalism. Among some of the programs she led, Show da Tarde, A Mulher nas Olímpicos, Musicamp, Sessão Pastempo com O Ação Certo, Aqui Agora, Alô Christina, Fantasia, as well as appearances as a reporter, stand out.
In 2009, Christina’s mission was to reformulate and lead the new phase of Casos de Família, establishing her brand and making the program a great success on SBT’s afternoon schedule, remaining for almost 15 years. In 2024, Christina commanded Tá na Hora.
