In Brasília, protesters gathered at Juscelino Kubitschek airport.

They treat our dogs like luggage, objects, and they are not. It’s not cheap to put a dog in transport like that. Our cry is for help, for enough. We don’t want this anymore. It needs to change. Transport needs to be regulatedhe said Fernanda Machado, owner of the female Nala, told Agência Brasil.

At Rio’s Santos Dumont airport, protesters shouted for “justice”. They carried banners and posters with the phrase: “We are not baggage. We are the love of someone’s life.” There were also demonstrations at airports in Rio Grande do Sul, Mato Grosso, Bahia and Santa Catarina.

Family letter

Joca’s guardian family published an open letter on social media in honor of the animal and cites words such as “struggle and mission” from now on. The text is signed by Flávia Fantazzini, sister of João Fantazzini, owner of Joca. In the message, she writes in the first person and remembers the routine and the five years the dog was with the family.

Afterwards, Flávia spoke of her unconditional support for her brother after the death of his pet. “Joca will be remembered forever and our fight will be great. Just don’t ever forget. I love you, my brother!”

Joe [Joca], this week did I remember the week that your aunt and uncle took care of you? do you remember? The aunt didn’t know what to do, you move from one side to the other, the aunt came down to walk with you, and you didn’t pee and the aunt got desperate? and at bedtime, do you remember? I wanted to sleep with me and my uncle in bed, but I couldn’t?
