We understand that compensation would never compensate for the suffering of Weiser’s owners, but Latam’s punishment is necessary, as they acted completely irresponsibly when transporting Weiser, and this episode cannot be repeated
Defense of Giuliano Conte, in note

The defense also says that Latam was never responsible for the case. And the company even argued that the death was due to a natural condition of large dogs. “[O argumento] was rejected by the magistrate in view of the evidence produced”, he informed.

What Latam Brasil says. When contacted, the company reported that, in 2021, it suspended the sale of pet transport for two months “to improve its policy and implement new restrictions and protocols for the provision of this service”. In 2024, it discarded the maximum weight requirement of up to seven kilos for animals in the aircraft cabin.

Now, all pets can board the cabin as long as they can stand and move naturally without touching the walls or ceiling of a bag or transport box up to 25 cm high, 28 cm wide and 40 cm long.
Latam Brasil, in a note

On Monday (22), a dog died during a failure in the air transport of Gollog, a company belonging to the airline Gol. Named Joca and of the golden retriever breed, the dog was supposed to be taken from Guarulhos International Airport (SP) to Sinop (MT), where his owner was waiting for him, but ended up in Fortaleza. After realizing the error in his destination, he returned to Guarulhos, but arrived dead.

Remember the Weiser case

“Talking about Weiser is always delicate for me,” said Giuliano. “He was our companion. We feel very sorry when we continue to see tragedies like these happening. It seems like we are reliving everything that happened, unfortunately.”
