The game Palworldseen on social media as “Pokémon, but with pistols and machine guns”, faces a sharp drop in user volume on PC — specifically, a 97% drop in players since the game was launched on Steam in February 2024 .

However, the number itself, although frightening, does not seem to bother the developers at the Pocketpair studio, who have already launched an update calendar for this year that promises new content and features, with the aim of regaining the game’s engagement.

According to charts from the Steam Database, Palworld has a peak of 62,171 players at the time this article was published, and 67,824 in the last 24 hours. For comparison purposes, at the beginning of March, the game had approximately 275 thousand and, before that, it had peaks above 2 million.

The moment, however, is not one of concern: Insider Gaming highlights that, unlike many other titles, Palworld is not a live service game, where players receive prizes for daily logins or dedicated hours.

Nor are the first numbers common: the game had already attracted a lot of attention before it arrived, precisely because of its supposed similarities with Pokémon and its different presentation (cute animals with weapons in an open environment).

Furthermore, the game will feature updates that promise more consistency in player retention: later this year (although without a specific date), the Pocketpair studio wants to implement functions such as raid bosses (continuous seasonal events that appear from time to time ) and several PvP features (player against player, in multiplayer mode).
