– We are looking forward to this task and will try to represent German football in a dignified way. We beat some big teams in this competition this season. We believe we have enough weapons to bring the trophy back to Dortmund after many years – declared Kehl, in an interview with the German channel “ZDF”.

In the decision, Borussia will reunite with midfielder Bellingham, who left the club in June last year and is one of Real Madrid’s highlights. However, Kehl wanted the final to be against Bayern Munich again. The former midfielder was part of the Borussia Dortmund team that, led by coach Jürgen Klopp, now at Liverpool, lost to their Bavarian rival in the Champions League final in 2013, precisely at Wembley.

Real Madrid is the biggest champion of the Champions League, with 14 titles – the last won in 2022 -, and will play in its 18th final of the tournament. Borussia Dortmund have only lifted one trophy, in 1997, and will participate in the final for the third time.
