The biggest tragedy in the history of Rio Grande do Sul, the floods that devastate several cities in the state have motivated a wave of solidarity throughout Brazil. In football, it has been no different. Clubs from Series A, B, C and D mobilized and announced that they would donate partial or total proceeds from ticket sales to the victims of the disaster.

In total, six teams announced actions of this type until the publication of this article. One from Series A, two from B, one from C and two from D. The pioneering club is from Minas Gerais and has already donated all the net proceeds from a game to families affected by the floods.

Series A

O Palm trees It is the only club from the national elite that announced the donation of starting income to victims of the floods in RS.

The São Paulo team informed that it will donate all the net income from the game against Athletico-PR to the state, this Sunday, at 4pm, at Allianz Parque, in São Paulo, for the sixth round of the Brazilian Championship.

Serie B

Two teams from Series B will allocate part of the proceeds from ticket sales to Rio Grande do Sul.

  • Paysandu: the team from Pará will donate to the state half of the amount raised from ticket sales until Saturday (11/5), referring to the match next Wednesday (15/5), against Goiás, at the Curuzu stadium, in Belém, for fifth round of the Second National Division.
  • Sports: the club from Pernambuco will donate part of the proceeds from the game against Brusque, at Arena Pernambuco, in Recife, this Saturday (11/5), for the fourth round of Series B, to the NGO Rede Muda Mundo, which is in charge of the Juntos action by Rio Grande do Sul.

Series C

The first club from the four national divisions to donate the amount raised from ticket sales in a game was one of the representatives of Minas Gerais in Series C: Athletic.

The Squadron allocated all net proceeds from the match against ABC, played last Sunday (5/5), in the third round of the championship, at Arena Sicredi, in São João del-Rei, to families affected by the tragedy in Rio Grande do South.

The action was a success: 4,156 fans attended the game, a record attendance for Athletic at the stadium since the team returned to competing in professional competitions in 2018. Net income was R$48,997.93, fully donated.

Series D

Two teams from the Fourth Division will donate game proceeds to Rio Grande do Sul.

  • Manauara: The Amazonian club announced that it will donate the proceeds from the match against Porto Velho, from Rondônia, which will be played at the Ismael Benigno Stadium, in Manaus, this Sunday (12/5), in the third round of Group A1 of the championship
  • Capital: the team from Tocantins will donate to Rio Grande do Sul the amount collected from tickets for the match against Anápolis, from Goiás, at the Nilton Santos Stadium, in Palmas, in the third round of Group A5 of Series D

Heavy rains in Rio Grande do Sul

The Southern Region of Brazil, especially the state of Rio Grande do Sul, has suffered from heavy rains in recent days.

According to the Civil Defense, 100 deaths were recorded, 128 people missing, 372 injured, as a result of the storms until this Wednesday morning. Additionally, there are 66,434 people in shelters and 158,992 displaced, that is, forced to evacuate from their homes.

CBF postponed matches of teams from Rio Grande do Sul

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) postponed matches involving teams from Rio Grande do Sul in all national competitions until May 27th. The entity announced the measure this Tuesday (7/5) due to the floods affecting Rio Grande do Sul.
