Scorer of one of the team’s goals Corinthians in the 2-0 victory against Nacional (PAR)in a duel for CONMEBOL South AmericanMatheuzinho can expand the club’s list of absences for the clash against Flamengoon Saturday (11), at Brazilian championship.

The club confirmed this Wednesday (08) that tests confirmed a right ankle sprain of the defender.

“Right-back Matheuzinho underwent tests this morning and was found to have a sprain in his right ankle. The athlete has already started rehabilitation with the club’s medical department,” the club wrote in a statement.

In the 51st minute of the 2nd half, Matheuzinho was left at the edge of the area and shot first time to guarantee Timão’s 2-0 victory.

The full-back, however, was unable to celebrate his first goal with the black and white shirt.

Matheuzinho fell to the grass shortly after the kick with his hand on his right ankle. Unable to continue, the full-back was replaced by Giovane. He left the field on a stretcher.

“It was more of a scare. We made an assessment in the locker room, but let’s see exactly what happened. The moment I stepped on it, the supporting foot slipped and twisted. I was scared, but I don’t think it was a big deal”, Matheuzinho reassured ESPN.

Still with uncertainty regarding the full-back, coach António Oliveira already knows that he will not be able to count on midfielder Raniele, suspended for his third yellow card.

Diego Palacios (rehabilitation of chronic cartilage damage in the left knee), Fausto Vera (pain in the back of the left thigh) and Matheus Araújo (recovery from hand surgery) can expand the list of absences at Corinthians.
