Mercedes boss Toto Wolff corroborated McLaren CEO Zak Brown’s claims about the supposed dissatisfaction of members of Red Bull Racing who were seeking new opportunities at other Formula 1 teams.

Red Bull recently announced the departure of legendary designer Adrian Newey, owner of 25 F1 titles, from the beginning of 2025. Newey’s decision would be linked to a turbulent internal climate within the team, generated by an investigation into the boss’s conduct. Christian Horner.

Brown said he was not surprised by Newey’s departure and believes other members of Red Bull could follow suit. The manager revealed that McLaren has been receiving CVs from Red Bull employees amid the crisis the Austrian team is facing.

“We have seen an increase in CVs coming from that team, and I think Adrian is the most successful F1 designer of all time,” said Brown. “So, in addition to the technical knowledge he brings, people want to work with figures like Adrian Newey.”

Sought to comment on Brown’s speech, Wolff revealed that Mercedes also noticed interest from Red Bull engineers in transferring teams.

“Yes, Zak is absolutely correct,” said Wolff. “We saw CVs from people at Red Bull at all levels. But I would say this is not something out of the ordinary. People change teams and look for new opportunities. I’ve reached a point where I’m not interested in what’s happening there (at Red Bull) with the leadership. I don’t listen to anything anymore.”

However, Wolff highlighted that his focus is on improving Mercedes’ performance on the track and recruiting professionals who can help reverse the team’s bad moment.

“I think it is important that we look at our team and develop the talented people we have, and hopefully, be able to attract interesting and competent people from other teams to Mercedes, and thus build an exciting journey of recovery”, concluded Wolff.
