Brazilian team celebrates the women’s U-20 South American Championship

It closed with a flourish! The Brazilian Under-20 women’s football team ended, in the early hours of this Monday (6), its glorious participation in the 2024 South American Championship. Champion last Friday (3), Brazil entered the field to play the last round of the final hexagonal, and beat the Peru team 2-0. The Brazilian goals were scored by Taylor Vogt (own goal) and Vi Amaral.

Winning the competition confirmed, once again, the absolute hegemony on the continent. This is because the Brazilian team won all ten editions of the South American Under-20 women’s football tournament. As a bonus, the title also confirmed the category’s place in the World Cup.

The game

As in previous matches, Brazil started the first stage with a lot of intensity and offense. Free, light and loose, the Brazilian Warriors created several scoring opportunities, while the Peruvian players were unable to finish once in the direction of goalkeeper Rillary.

So, in the 18th minute, Letícia dribbled past the marker and passed to Carol, who tried the shot, but the goalkeeper saved it. On the rebound, Milena crossed into the box and Taylor Vogt, from Peru, ended up scoring an own goal, opening the scoring for Brazil. Still in the first half, Brazil increased its advantage. From the free kick, Lara crossed and the ball fell to Vi Amaral, who placed it in the Peruvian goalkeeper’s left corner, extending the score.

After the break, the Seleção did not let its guard down and continued to put pressure on its opponents. Once again, the Brazilian team managed to create good chances, but they were not as effective as in the previous stage. Finally, after the final whistle, the Seleção lifted the tenth cup in the competition, becoming champions of the continental tournament once again.
