Owner of SAF do Botafogo, John Textor will be judged this Monday (6/5) by the 1st Disciplinary Commission of the STJD for not having presented the evidence he said he had of corruption in Brazilian arbitration. The session is scheduled to start at 12:30 pm.

The trial would be held on April 15, but was postponed by decision of the auditor-reporter Miguel Ângelo Cançado, who asked for more time to carry out a “better analysis of the process”.

Textor was reported for violating articles 220-A, item I (failing to collaborate with the sports court in investigating irregularities, which provides for a fine of R$ 100 to R$ 100 thousand) and 223 (failing to comply with or delaying compliance with a decision , with a fine of R$100 to R$100 thousand and suspension of 90 to 360 days or automatic).

The American businessman will be tried after the STJD Prosecutor’s Office requested the opening of an investigation, which was welcomed by President José Perdiz. Textor was automatically suspended as determined by auditor Mauro Marcelo de Lima e Silva, but the STJD Plenary reversed the decision.

Ten days ago, John Textor was suspended by the STJD for 45 days and fined R$100,000 for statements made after the defeat to Palmeiras in the Brazilian Championship-2023. The black and white SAF owner’s deadline runs until May 13, as he had already served 28 days.
