Recently retired with the Cruzeiro shirt, Marcelo Moreno stated, this Tuesday (30/4), that the Minas Gerais club is interested in Gabriel Barbosa, from Flamengo. The former striker stated that the deal could take place in the June transfer window.
Participating in the program The Owners of the Ballfrom TV Band, Moreno said that Gabigol is on Cruzeiro’s radar.
“The information I have, I don’t want to say that Souza is wrong, but I think that Gabigol could be going somewhere else. It could be Cruzeiro, which now has a new manager and commander. At least that’s the information I have. From what I heard, this could heat up now in the June market”, he began.
“It’s like Pedrinho said at the press conference when he was acquiring SAF, you need to invest in a great player. You’ll have to hire. Alexandre Mattos has just arrived at the club and is a guy we know a lot. I know he likes to bring players with Gabigol’s ability. So, it would be an excellent signing for Cruzeiro.”

Gabriel Barbosa has a contract with Flamengo until December 2024. From July this year, he will be able to sign a pre-contract with any team if he does not renew with the Rio club before then.
Gabigol was suspended for doping at Flamengo
Gabigol had been suspended from activities at Flamengo since March 25, when he was punished for two years by the Anti-Doping Court of Sports Justice (TJD-AD) for attempted fraud in the anti-doping test. The attacker could not use the CT red-black facilities or even be involved in matches.
In turn, the defense of Flamengo’s legal department managed to suspend the player. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), in Switzerland, unanimously accepted the request and released the athlete to return to work.
Therefore, Barbosa will be able to return to training with the group of players at Ninho do Urubu, in Rio de Janeiro, this Tuesday (30/4). He has not entered the field since the 2-0 victory over Fluminense, in the qualifying phase of the Campeonato Carioca, on February 25th.
This year, Gabigol scored two goals in eight games.
