Voz do Setorista: “Palmeiras demonstrated his mental strength to turn around the Libertadores”

Back in Brazil after the heroic comeback against Independiente del Valle, Palmeiras returned to the Football Academy on Friday afternoon to begin preparations for the classic against São Paulo. The game will take place at 8pm on Monday, at Morumbis.

The athletes who were starters in Quito did regenerative activities inside the center of excellence, and the others participated in technical passing and marking training and a 30-minute collective.

Absent for physical reasons, Zé Rafael, Dudu and Bruno Rodrigues did the first part of the work with the group and another separate exercise under the supervision of the NSP. There are still two days of preparation to find out if the steering wheel will be available for the classic.

Over the last few days, coach Abel Ferreira has reinforced the team’s physical exhaustion problem – raising the possibility of sparing athletes or – as he likes to call it – “energy management”. Among them, Raphael Veiga is the main one.

In the event of an absence, homegrown Luis Guilherme – who scored his first goal as a professional on Wednesday, in the Libertadores – appears as a possibility for the position, alongside Jhon Jhon and Rômulo. In defense, defender MUrilo is another who could appear again.

A likely lineup Palmeiras currently has Weverton; Murilo (Rocha), Luan and Gómez; Mayke, Aníbal Moreno, Richard Ríos, Raphael Veiga (Luis Guilherme) and Piquerez; Endrick and Flaco López (Ron).

Goalkeeper’s Day and message from Weverton

On this April 26th – when Goalkeeper’s Day is celebrated -, Palmeiras held a dynamic with athletes from the U-09 to U-20 categories in the men’s category, as well as Natascha, Kate Tapia and Bruna Hirata in the women’s category. There were reflection activities on the importance of the position and the sharing of qualities that they see as essential.

The goalkeepers did a recreational activity on the field and watched videos recorded by Weverton, Marcelo Lomba and Kaique, goalkeepers from the Palmeiras professional team, and Rogério Godoy and Thales Damasceno, coaches for the main team.

– I’m here to congratulate you all. Being a goalkeeper is not easy, it means living between chaos and order all the time. It’s a joy to wear the shirt of this giant Brazilian football club, which has so much tradition in goals – said Weverton.
