The regional phase of the Open Youth Games (Joguinhos) starts this weekend for teams from José José. On Saturday (27th) athletics competitions will take place at Poliesportivo João do Pulo and on Sunday (28th) judo competitions will take place at the Teatrão complex, in Vila Industrial.

Only the winners of each category will qualify for the Joguinhos finals, which will take place in Araçatuba, from June 1st to 8th.

In addition to athletics (m/f) and judo (m/f), São José competes in the regional phase in fustal (m/f), swimming (m/f), men’s chess, beach volleyball (m/f) , basketball (m/f), handball (m/f), volleyball (m/f), men’s soccer and tennis (m/f).

Next week, the competition continues with swimming, futsal, basketball, chess and beach volleyball (see schedule below). The regional phase runs until May 13th.

On Monday (29) men’s futsal takes the court to face Lorena, at 7pm, in Taubaté. The winner takes the winner of the clash between Taubaté and São Sebastião, on May 7th, in Taubaté.

The modalities of women’s rhythmic gymnastics and artistic gymnastics (m/f), women’s chess and women’s football only take place in the final phase.

39 years old

The Open Youth Games, promoted by the State Sports Secretariat, reach their 39th edition this year. The competition brings together athletes aged up to 18 years.

São José competes in the Games with 27 teams (14 sports). There are approximately 300 athletes linked to the Citizen Athlete program, run by the Department of Sport and Quality of Life.

Last year, the José delegation ended its participation in the 38th edition in Tatuí with the highest score among the 138 municipalities that competed in the competition.
