Darlan denies anxiety about the final and avoids talking about the Olympics: “The important thing now is the Super League” | volleyball

Sesi-Bauru and Campinas are already in Recife for the final of the Men’s Volleyball Super League. The opponents of the big decision arrived this Thursday and this Friday morning they will have their first training session in the capital of Pernambuco.

The teams from the interior of São Paulo will face each other this Sunday, at 10am, at the Geraldão gymnasium, with live broadcast from Globe It’s from sportv2.

Sesi Vôlei Bauru faces Campinas in Recife in the Superliga final

The Bauru team landed at 10:30 pm this Thursday and had their first training session at Geraldão at 9 am this Friday, just over 48 hours before the ball went up.

This first activity on Recife soil was closed to the press. The only open training will be this Friday afternoon.

Before getting on the bus on the way to the first training session, opposite Darlan gave an exclusive interview to ge and the TV HAS. Brazilian volleyball sensation and record holder, by far, in the Men’s Superliga, the 21-year-old revealed that he was not anxious and valued the landscape with the sea in the background.

– I get more anxious on the day of the game, the day before bed, but I’m calm. It’s about training now, studying the opponent and doing the best on the court. I’m from Rio (de Janeiro) and a little beach is good for relaxing. The people here are very nice people, they stop to take photos, ask questions. This contact with the public is very good and takes away anxiety – he said.

By decision of the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV), Sesi-Bauru and Campinas share the same hotel in Recife. The five-star hotel faces the sea on Boa Viagem Beach. About his day-to-day life with opponents present in the same environment, Darlan spoke about the friendships he has, but highlighted where the healthy atmosphere ends.

– We are used to staying in the same hotel as our opponents. I think I treat them like opponents on the court. I’m good friends with many, it’s a healthy atmosphere, but when I get on the court, I don’t care about our friendship and I want to beat them – he said.

With exactly three months to go before the start of the Paris Olympics, Darlan was asked about the importance of a final, considering coach Bernardinho’s future call-up. The opposite, however, preferred to exalt the present and preached total focus on the final and on his team, Sesi-Bauru.

– I don’t think I have a place in the Olympics yet. First I have to do it here now. The most important thing now is the Super League. If I get called up or not, be patient. I don’t think too far ahead, I think more about the present and what I can do now for my team. I’m defending Sesi, so I have to think about Sesi and not other things – concluded Darlan.

Darlan broke a series of records in this Super League. The opposite achieved the two highest individual scores in a match, with 41 points over Araguari and 48 against Joinville, in the semifinal.

Sesi-Bauru was third in the overall standings, with a campaign of 14 wins and eight losses. They eliminated Araguari in the quarterfinals and Joinville in the semifinals, both 2-1 in the match.

Campinas, in turn, was eighth and last among those classified and got past favorite Cruzeiro and also Guarulhos in the knockout stages of the Superliga.
