Fluminense’s debut in Conmebol Libertadores will be marked by absences. And one more was confirmed this Monday afternoon: striker Germán Cano will not travel to Peru and will be absent for the duel against Alianza Lima, this Wednesday, in the 1st round of the group stage.

Fluminense’s last training session in Brazil was held at 3:30 pm, at CT Carlos Castilho. The expectation was that Cano would participate in the collective activity before the final decision to travel or stay in Rio de Janeiro. However, he still had difficulty performing some movements and the option was to preserve him.

Fernando Diniz already knows that he will not be able to count on five names in the Libertadores debut. Two absences are due to suspensions: John Kennedy and Diogo Barbosa were sent off on the return leg of the Recopa, at Maracanã, and will serve their absence in the Libertadores debut.

On the physical side, Keno is still unable to go to the field, despite no longer needing the aid of crutches; on March 20, he suffered a sprain in training, but no rupture. Marlon is still recovering from a knee injury and was returned to the care of the medical department.

Ganso, in turn, is still not 100% after feeling pain in his calf on the eve of the Fla-Flu return in Carioca. The measure is preventive, and it is expected that he will be available against Colo-Colo, in the second round of the Libertadores.

Gabriel Pires lives a similar situation to Cano. He has not been ruled out, but his presence in the squad that goes to Lima is still in doubt.

Fluminense will finish its preparations to face Alianza Lima in the Peruvian capital, this Tuesday. Tricolor will do one last training session at the Peru national team’s CT, the same place where they trained in 2023 before joining Sporting Cristal. The Rio team’s debut will be on Wednesday, at 9:30 pm, at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium.
