Estoril (Portugal) – João Fonseca’s debut at the ATP 250 in Estoril is scheduled for this Tuesday. Invited to the Portuguese tournament on clay courts, the 17-year-old from Rio will play around noon (Brasília time) against the British Jan Choinski, 27 years old and 188th in the ranking, who came from two victories in the quali in the last final of the week. The game takes place in the tournament’s main stadium and will be broadcast via streaming on Star+.

Fonseca appears this Monday with the best ranking of his career, now in 288th place. He competed in a Brazilian final in the Assunção challenger against Gustavo Heide eight days ago and received campaign points, which made him jump 44 positions. With this, he is already number 6 in the country in the ranking.

This will be Fonseca’s fourth participation in an ATP main draw. He played the last two editions of the Rio Open, achieving his first two victories in the current season, against Arthur Fils and Cristian Garin to reach the quarterfinals.
