The First Lady had stated that she spoke to the general to mobilize a team per animal; 136 people are still missing in the state and 107 have already died
First lady Janja Lula da Silva published a video in which she cries and says she is “moved” by the rescue of the mare nicknamed “Caramelo” on the internet. The animal was saved this Thursday morning with the help of 2 boats from the Fire Department.
The mare was isolated on a roof in Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul. During the morning, Janja stated that he had contacted General Hertz to mobilize the Army to rescue the animal.

She stated that, together with volunteers, she had been mobilizing people since 6 am to rescue the animal from the roof.
“We managed to save another life. That’s it, folks. Strength, Rio Grande do Sul”said Janja with a choked voice.

Heavy rains in Rio Grande do Sul have already left 107 dead and 136 people missing, according to a bulletin released at 9am this Thursday by Civil Defense. The storms have hit 425 of the State’s 497 municipalities since April 28 and affected more than 1.4 million people.
