President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) chose Minas Gerais lawyer Antônio Fabrício for the position of minister of the Superior Labor Court (TST). Now, he occupies the seat of minister Emmanoel Pereira, who leaves the Court for retirement.

Antônio Fabrício is linked to the Prerrogativas group, a law collective linked to the defense of human rights and democracy. Throughout the process of his selection, he also began to be defended by the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG).

The new minister is from the labor area and, throughout his career, worked especially with the TST and the Federal Regional Court of the 3rd Region. Graduated from PUC in Minas Gerais, Antônio Fabrício has a master’s degree from the same institution, where he has been a professor since 1999. He has also presided over the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) in Minas Gerais.

It is worth remembering that Antônio Fabrício was competing for the seat with Adriano Costa Avelino, who also had the support of the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira. Avelino is Lira’s lawyer.
