Chamber excludes video of Felipe Neto’s participation in debate

The Chamber of Deputies excluded from its YouTube channel the participation of digital influencer Felipe Neto in the “Symposium: Regulation of Digital Platforms and the urgency of an Agenda”, held on Tuesday (April 23, 2024). The broadcast, which was done live, remains available on the platform, but without the section in which Felipe Neto participated in the event.

During his participation, the influencer called the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL) “excremental”. Felipe criticized the congressman for not introducing bill 2,630 of 2020, as fake newson the agenda for voting in the Lower House.

“We need to talk more, communicate more, talk to the people more, invite the people more to participate […] We fundamentally need to change our perception of what a bill like 2,630 is, which was, unfortunately, crushed by the excremental Arthur Lira”said Neto.

Because of his statement, the Depol (Legislative Police Department) of the Chamber of Deputies charged Felipe Neto with insult. Depol was called by Lira to “the adoption of appropriate measures”. According to the president’s advisors, the Chamber’s Parliamentary Prosecutor’s Office will take legal action against Felipe Neto in the Federal Court in a criminal case. The crime news was presented at the Depol police station on the same day that the communicator participated in the symposium. “Citizen Felipe Neto made insulting, offensive and gratuitous comments to the president of the Chamber of Deputies“says Lira’s advisor.

The digital influencer was charged with the crime of insult with a predicted increased sentence, as per article 141 of the Brazilian Penal Code, which deals with infractions committed against a public official due to their duties.

To the Power360Felipe Neto stated, in a note, that he made a “ironic criticism” to Lira’s decision and was surprised by the congressman’s reaction.
