The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), called the Legislative Police against businessman and influencer Felipe Neto. The reason is the fact that Neto, during his videoconference participation in the legislative house’s symposium on the regulation of digital platforms, referred to the parliamentarian as “excremental”.

“We need to talk more, communicate more, talk more to the people, invite the people more to participate… It is fundamentally necessary that we change the perception in relation to what a bill like the 2,630, which was unfortunately crushed by the excrement Arthur Lira“, the influencer had said on Tuesday (23).

Lira then denounced Felipe Neto for insulting him. In the detailed statement filed with the Legislative Police, the president of the Chamber alleges that the influencer tried to “tarnish his honor” by attributing “derogatory judgment”. The case was referred to the Federal Court.

Felipe Neto reacts

In a post on social media made this Thursday (25), Felipe Neto reacted and defended himself of the complaint made by Arthur Lira.

“I confess that I found it curious, since Arthur Lira himself said today: ‘For a parliamentarian to be called to testify in the PF because he said that a minister is this or that in the CPI is exaggerating a bit’ (…) I have no opinion about the person Arthur Lira, I don’t know you. As a parliamentarian, my opinion is clear: your actions and inactions are largely harmful and extremely reprehensible”, began the influencer.

Afterwards, grandson said that he just made a joke with the word “excelentíssimo” when using the term “excrementíssimo” to refer to the president of the Chamber.

“My intention, in quoting ‘excrementíssimo’, was clearly to make fun of the word ‘excellent’, a satirical, joking opinion, evidently with no intention of offending honor. I have already suffered attempts to silence people using the police before, including by my family Bolsonaro. I will continue to face this entire group as long as I have the strength left. And I never said that I would face them with flowers, nor did I do so and I never will.”

At the end, Felipe Neto also cited an excerpt from a speech by Minister Alexandre de Moraes in a trial at the Federal Supreme Court (STF) on freedom of expression.

“‘Freedom of expression exists for the expression of contrary, joking, satirical and even erroneous opinions, but not for criminal opinions, hate speech or attacks against the Democratic Rule of Law and democracy’ – STF. AP 1044/DF , rapporteur Min. Alexandre de Moraes, judgment on 20.4.2022 (info 1051)”.
