This week, the economic area released its proposal to regulate the tax reform on consumption — approved and promulgated at the end of last year — and proposed a list of 850 medicines that would have reduced taxes, while another 383 would be exempt from taxes.

If the proposal is approved, the list of medicines with reduced tax will have a tax of 40% of the so-called “general rate”, that is, the average tax level.

Today, the Ministry of Finance’s estimate is that the average level is 26.5% of the product’s value – which will only be confirmed after a testing and transition phase.

Among the products with a reduced rate, as proposed by the federal government and the states, is tadalafil — which helps increase blood flow to the penis and can help men maintain an erection.

The list of drugs with zero tax, according to the project, includes sildenafil citrate — indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Furthermore, the proposal is that vaccines against Covid-19, dengue and yellow fever are also exempt.
