The Israeli Army confirmed this Tuesday (26) that he killed Marwan Issanumber 2 of the armed wing of the islamist movement Palestinian Hamas, in a bombing in Gaza Strip.
Issa, who would be the highest-ranking Hamas cadre killed by Israel since the start of the war, was “eliminated in a bombing […] two weeks ago”, said Army spokesman Daniel Hagari, confirming information already released by the White House last week.
The Islamist leader was “one of the organizers of the October 7th massacre”, committed by militiamen in southern Israel, and was “eliminated in a complex and precise bombing carried out by the air force, based on information from the Army and Shin Beth”, Israel’s internal intelligence service, according to Hagari.
United States National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan had given this information on March 18.
On March 11, the Israeli military said Issa was the target of an airstrike on an underground complex in the center of the Gaza Strip.
Issa was the assistant collaborator of Mohamed Deif, leader of Hamas’s armed wing, the Ezzedine al Qassam Brigades, Hagari said at the time.
