“I love The Offspring and can’t wait to play festivals with them. I’ll be on the side of the stage watching them because Dexter [Holland, vocalista] He has a great voice and I can’t wait to see that”, declared the guitarist, in a statement published on the Metal Hammer magazine website.

Although he really likes The Offspring, Kerry King didn’t really like hearing that the group led by Dexter Holland is part of the Punk universe.

“I was very upset that they called it Punk!”, added King, who took the opportunity to go down the aisle in the style that made names like the Ramones and The Clash famous.

“Punk doesn’t evolve. It’s true! I remember people tried to say that The Offspring, Green Day and others were Punk and I don’t want to disrespect any of them, but they’re not Punk. They kind of started their own genre, which is, between inverted commas, Pop Punk. In the 90s, when these bands were called Punk, it made me not like them”, concluded the guitarist.

“From Hell I Rise”, the first album by Kerry King’s band, will be released on May 17th. As for Slayer, the group will play some shows in the second half of the year, to the dismay of some metalheads.
