Mood FM 91.1 from Rio de Janeiro, known for its youth/adult-pop programming stylewill close its activities at the end of this month. The farewell to the live broadcast will take place this Friday (9), marking the beginning of a period of exclusively musical transmission until the definitive end of operations. The channel that houses the station is involved in a technical exchange which will be carried out by Grupo Bandeirantes, holder of the frequency.

From Saturday (10), Mood FM will enter a final phase where there will be no more announcers. The program will be limited to a continuous musical selection, which will follow the “farewell mood”, as he has been announcing in his social media posts.

A Mood FM began operating on 104.5 FM in 2019. The channel’s predecessor, Fanática FM, debuted in Rio de Janeiro in May 2016 and had a popular/hits programming format. After, stopped operating on the 104.5 FM frequency in February 2021. In its place, Positividade FM began its programming some time later and currently maintains its operation.

Days later, the station’s management announced that it had made a agreement with Grupo Bandeirantes of Rio de Janeiro to use the 91.1 FM frequency (which was broadcasting Mania FM), a channel that still operates today and starts in the city of Petrópolis (RJ).

Frequency exchanges between Rio and Petrópolis

Grupo Bandeirantes had confirmation about the closure on the 5th of a public consultation that included a movement to exchange channels between two of its FM stations in Rio de Janeiro. There was a request to change frequencieswith the following result: the current 84.9 FM, which operates as Rádio Bandeirantes in Rio de Janeiro, will occupy the 91.1 FM tune from the capital. The current Petrópolis station, which accommodated Mood in this last cycle, will be moved to the 84.9 FM tune.
