Unisc (University of Santa Cruz do Sul) implemented a project aimed at collecting radio receivers and batteries. The objective is to guarantee access to information for those affected by the floods in Rio Grande do Sul. The university campus is a collection point.

Several regions in the state of Rio Grande do Sul remain without electricity supply. Faced with this situation, radio has stood out as a source of information and service provision to the population. Unisc has created a campaign that asks for donations of radios and batteries that are in good condition. The initiative has been publicized through the university’s digital channels.

“The radio effectively reaches these communities that are currently being affected and that currently do not have the means to communicate, and obviously we are thinking about battery-powered radio so that this does not depend on electrical energy, since we do not know when this electrical energy will be established So we will be able to send messages, give messages to this community about places they need to go, procedures they should do, ways they can clean things up”, said the Unisc Law professor and creator of the project. project, Grace Kellen de Freitas Pellegrini.

Last Monday (6) the tudoradio.com had given information about the search for battery radios in commercial establishments in Lajeado (RS), one of the most affected municipalities in the state. Due to high demand, the product was already out of stock on the shelves.
