Even without money, Eduardo Fredon, 26, from Paraná, spared no effort to make his dream of seeing — even from afar — Madonna come true. To travel from Curitiba to Rio de Janeiro, he withdrew the Service Time Guarantee Fund (FGTS), sold the gas cylinder and even stopped attending the fair.

“It’s crazy. I’m in a place I’ve never been to. I don’t even know what Rio de Janeiro is like,” said Fredon in an exclusive interview with Terra, while camping in front of the Copacabana Palace, in the South Zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, where Madonna has been staying since Monday the 29th.

But, even though he recognizes the size of the madness carried out by the Queen of Pop, the man from Paraná says he has no regrets. “This show will be the icon. I would do anything crazy for her, I would even sell an organ if I needed it. I’m here, in this sun, grinding here, to see if I can see her a little bit in the window and to demonstrate a little of the love I feel for her”, he added.

The young man highlights the importance of Madonna in his life and says that the singer saved him from depression. “I met Madonna, she made me recognize myself, made me revive and made me search for the meaning of life again.”

According to him, being a fan of the pop diva means “having love tattooed on your skin, doing crazy things, running out of money and traveling far away.”

Madonna performs in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, April 4, at Copacabana Beach, with the show The Celebration Tour in Rio, in celebration of her 40 years of career. The presentation starts at around 9:45 pm, will last two hours and can be seen on TV and the internet via live broadcast. Before, at 7pm, DJs warm up the audience and, at 8pm, it’s the American Diplo’s turn to lead the party until Madonna arrives.

This Thursday, funk singer Anitta also confirmed her presence at the show. In an interview with the North American channel Extra TV!, the Brazilian said that she stopped going to the Met Gala to go on stage with Madonna. She and the queen of pop have a song together, Makes it delicious.

1.5 million people are expected for the show. The Tourism Company of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro (Riotur) confirmed 170 extra flights to the city until the 6th. A 30% increase in the flow of the Novo Rio Bus Station is also expected.

Madonna should receive R$17 million. The Queen of Pop’s fee is included in a document with all the expenses planned for the presentation, which estimates using R$20 million just for the international transport of the artist’s equipment and cargo.

In addition to the private sector, the State Government and City Hall also invested R$10 million each in the event. Public bodies claim that the amount reverted to Rio de Janeiro will be much higher: around R$293 million.
