The singer Madonna will receive the mere sum of 17,075 million reais (3.3 million dollars) to perform for free on Copacabana Beach, this Saturday, the 4th. The amount was revealed in an administrative process that dealt with the sponsorship of 10 million reais that the The state government of Rio de Janeiro paid for the event, according to a report by columnist Ancelmo Gois. The expenses were detailed by the production company Bonus Track in an email sent to the management of Furnarj, responsible for sponsorship. The presentation will be broadcast on TV Globo and for Multishow and Globoplay subscribers.

In total, the singer’s trip to Brazil will cost 59,908,437.50 reais. Of this amount, Madonna would capture 17,075 million reais, the equivalent of 3.3 million dollars at the exchange rate on April 30th. When contacted by VEJA, Itaú and the production company Bonus Track responded that they do not comment on values ​​related to artists’ contracts. The city of Rio de Janeiro estimates that Madonna’s show should generate around 300 million reais in the city.

This will be the fourth time that the singer performs in Brazil. She had already played here in 1993, 2008 and 2012. Madonna will be staying at the Copacabana Palace with a team of at least 200 people, who will occupy 90 rooms. Five hotel rooms will be reserved for rehearsals. The Rio de Janeiro Military Police are already patrolling the sands to prevent fans from camping.

The stage will be one of the biggest in the singer’s career and the biggest on the tour. It will have 812 m², with 24 m² in front and 18 m to the ceiling. The floor will be 2.40 m from the ground, to facilitate public viewing. Itaú, which is sponsoring the show, announced that Madonna’s performance is scheduled to start between 9:30 pm and 10 pm, but left a message that sent shivers down the spine of fans: “The time of the show is the artist’s responsibility”. In other words, the singer will go on stage whenever she wants and the bank has nothing to do with it. The show is expected to be two hours long.
