Pantheon of memes welcomes Madonna’s arrival in Brazil – 04/30/2024 – #Hashtag

The queen of pop is already among us. And social networks are in uproar.

Madonna arrived in Rio de Janeiro this Monday morning (29) and went straight to the Copacabana Palace, where she and her team are staying. On Saturday (4), she will perform on the sands of Copacabana beach, ending The Celebration Tour with a free show that promises record attendance: more than 1.5 million people are expected.

As the meme factory in Brazilian territory is never interrupted, Madonna only had to set foot in the wonderful city for an infinity of content to emerge. “How can this video already exist?” asked one internet user when retweeting the following post:

Madonna, who arrived in a black jacket and cap, as well as sunglasses, made a quick appearance at the window of the Copacabana Palace at around 1pm. A glimpse, however small, was enough.

Internet users even retrieved a classic video of Senhora dos Absurdos, a character played by Paulo Gustavo in the late “220 Volts”, to mock the concentration of fans that formed in front of the hotel.

Fátima and Sueli, characters from Fernanda Torres and Andréa Beltrão in “Tapas & Beijos”, were also revisited. Who knows, during her stay, the queen might take some time to visit the Djalma Noivas store? It could be the opportunity to take on another outfit for the tour.

This is the fourth time that Madonna has performed in Brazil. The singer came in 1993 (The Girlie Show), in 2008 (Sticky & Sweet Tour) and in 2012 (MDNA). In 2010, she followed the samba school parade during carnival in Marquês de Sapucaí, when she was photographed alongside former president Dilma Rousseff, then chief minister of the Civil House.

On X, formerly Twitter, internet users are sharing a text by writer Caio Fernando Abreu published on the occasion of the singer’s first visit to the country: “Madonna left a breath of vitality in the air. Health, joy, excitement. With or without a virus and crisis, Madonna makes you want that sacred thing: to live”, wrote the author of “Moldy Strawberries” (1982). Any similarity is not coincidental.

In these countdown days, the rule is clear.
