Cavalera Brothers re-record “Schizophrenia”; watch the video for “Escape to the Void”

Cavalera, a band featuring brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, re-recorded Sepultura’s first two albums in 2023, “Morbid Visions” and “Bestial Devastation”, which, according to the duo, presented the challenge of presenting something that sounds really good to current standards, but maintaining the essence of the songs.

Now fans will be able to hear another great work from the family, with the re-recording of the classic “Schizophrenia”, originally released in 1997 and which will receive its new version, featuring a new track, on June 21st, by Nuclear Blast Records.

The first taste of the record comes with a live clip for the single “Escape to the Void”. The video shows a performance recorded by Costin Chloreanu and Oliivia Chloreanu in the Netherlands in 2023.

“The third world trilogy is complete with ‘Schizophrenia’, ‘Bestial Devastation’ and ‘Morbid Visions’, all three underground gems! For me, ‘Schizophrenia’ is the great death/thrash experiment! I was inspired to tackle the world and this recording shows that my commitment is unwavering! This is for all generations to enjoy!

Igor added: “1987 was a very progressive year for metal, with releases like Celtic Frost’s ‘Into The Pandemonium’, Voivod’s ‘Killing Technology’ and Bathory’s ‘Under the Sign of the Black Mark’, so it was no surprise how we worked on ‘Schizophrenia’ breaking the barriers of our black/death metal sound going more towards thrash metal. We still had some ideas from ‘Morbid Visions’ and new songs.

In addition to the Cavalera brothers, guitarist Travis Stone (Pig Destroyer) and drummer Igor Amadeus Cavalera (Go Ahead And Die, Healing Magic), Max’s son, play on the album.
