Actor Jude Law became unrecognizable to play King Henry VIII (1491-1547) in the period drama ‘Firebrand’ (2024). The film directed by Brazilian filmmaker Karim Aïnouz is centered on the efforts of the monarch’s wife, Catarina Parr (1512-1548), played by Alicia Vikander, to survive her husband’s untimely acts.
The first preview of the production draws attention to Jude Law’s physical transformation to bring the 15th century monarch to life.
‘Firebrand’ has already had special screenings at film festivals around the world, but is not yet scheduled for release on the commercial circuit in Brazil. The film premiered in France in March and will hit theaters in the United States next June.
Jude Law has two Oscar nominations under his belt, he competed for the award for his work in ‘The Talented Ripley’ (1999) and ‘Cold Mountain’ (2003). Alicia Vikander won an Oscar in 2016 for her performance in ‘The Danish Girl’ (2015).
Recently, Jude Law used a repulsive perfume, created by the ‘Firebrand’ team, for him to work on the film. According to the artist, the substance he used mixed smells of blood, fecal matter and sweat.
