In the US, the film opens on July 5th. The date positions MaXXXine as one of the films that can take advantage of US Independence Day, July 4th, and guarantee a higher box office due to the holiday.
It is worth remembering that A24 only operates in the USA. Some national distributor needs to acquire the film and release it here for MaXXXine to reach Brazilian cinemas.
MaXXXine also has Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), lily collins (Emily in Paris), Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown), Kevin Bacon (Footloose), Bobby Cannavale (The Irishman), Michelle Monaghan (True Detective), the singer-songwriter Moses Sumney and the singer Halsey.
The story starring Goth began with X – The Mark of Death, where she starred with Jenna Ortega (Wandinha). Its plot follows a film crew that arrives at an isolated farm in Texas to film an adult film. The hosts of the place, an elderly couple, show an unusual interest in that group of young people, and as night arrives, the old men become violent.
In X, she plays two characters: the protagonist Maxine and, with elderly makeup, the antagonist Pearl. Then Pearlas you can imagine, is a film focused on the villain of X. This time without elderly makeup, Goth plays the character in her youth in a kind of origin.
Now, she and West are preparing a third film. With MaXXXinewe will follow the character trying to become a porn star in Los Angeles in the 1980s. The three films are directed by Ti West and inspired by classic horror slashers, such as Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Sweetheart in Brazil for being the actress’s granddaughter Maria Gladys, Goth is one of the main stars and everything involving horror, suspense and bizarreness in current cinema.
