X-Men 97‘ featured one of the most moving episodes of the season, when Gambit sacrifices himself to save the people of Genosha from the genocidal attack of a gigantic Sentinel.

Before his death, the passionate hero had been rejected by Rogue, who told him:

“You light up everything you touch, but never me.”referring to the fact that no one can touch her due to her power to steal energy from others.

With that in mind, the Marvel shared a poster in honor of the duo, with the first part of the phrase that marked the episode.

Remembering that the 2nd season is in development, and it seems that the 3rd is also being planned, as stated by the producer Brad Winderbaum.

In an interview with the comic booksthe filmmaker celebrated the popularity that the animation is having among fans and commented on the development of future episodes.

“We already have a 2nd season on the way and we are working on long-term planning. We were waiting to find out how our work would be received, but due to the popularity the series found so quickly, Season 3 is now in active development.”
