Soybean harvest is still “in its infancy” in Dom Pedrito (RS) due to delays in planting and rain

The weather, which hampered soybean planting in Dom Pedrito, Rio Grande do Sul, is now interfering with the harvest, according to the president of the local Rural Union, José Roberto Weber. He explains that excessive rainfall at intervals during sowing caused soybean development to be staggered. Now, at the time of harvest, the rains once again soaked the soil, making the process difficult.

According to Weber, around 2% of soybean areas have been harvested so far, and with excess rain, there is a risk that the plants will develop mold. “We know that there will be a drop in the soybean harvest, but it is not yet possible to say how much,” he said.

In the case of rice, which should have already finished being harvested, the president of the Rural Union points out that there are still around 30% of areas left to complete the process, which should have already ended.
