Rio – Police officers from the 31st BPM (Barra da Tijuca) rescued, on the morning of Wednesday (31), a baby under one year old abandoned in a dump in the Canal das Taxas, in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, West Zone of Rio. However, the child, whose sex was not disclosed, did not resist and died before receiving care.

According to the Military Police, when they found that it was a baby, the agents immediately removed her to the neighborhood’s Fire Department, which is about 2.5 km from the point where the child was abandoned.

According to the Fire Department, Samu was called by people at 8:59 am to help the child who, two minutes later, according to the corporation, was admitted to the barracks already in death.

The case was forwarded to the Capital Homicide Police Station, which will investigate who was responsible for the abandonment.
