Meetings to invite companies to participate in the survey began in Chapecó, this Tuesday. The initiative is from FIESC together with UFSC
Sensitize companies to participate in the survey that will measure the logistics cost of the Santa Catarina industry. This was the objective of the Federation of Industries (FIESC) when starting the new edition of the study, with a meeting this Tuesday (30th) at the Commercial and Industrial Association of Chapecó (ACIC).
Industrialists from the region and leaders of business entities participated. São Miguel do Oeste, this Wednesday (31), Joaçaba and Concórdia, on Thursday (01), are the next municipalities that will host the meetings. São Bento do Sul, Joinville, Blumenau, Rio do Sul, Lages, Florianópolis and Criciúma will also host the meetings.
The president of FIESC, Mario Cezar de Aguiar, highlighted the importance of companies participating and answering the survey questionnaire. “This is critical to ensure a meaningful sample. Each industry that responds will receive an individual diagnosis of its logistics costs and improvement indicators. This research allows us to know the reality and have solid arguments that help us to demand from the authorities improvements in our transport infrastructure”, he stressed, adding that the Federation guarantees the absolute confidentiality of the reported data.
The union of the entities and the participation of companies from the West were highlighted by the West Regional Vice President of FIESC, Waldemar Schmitz. “It is essential for the region to be integrated in order to have more strength and representation in our claims. This study is an important initiative to seek greater logistical efficiency, aiming to demand improvements in the transport and logistics infrastructure of the West and all of Santa Catarina”.
ACIC President Lenoir Broch emphasized that logistical cost and infrastructure are always a concern. “This study meets our demands, such as the need to build railways in the region. It is more of a concerted effort to demand that governments pay attention to the West,” he stressed.
The survey is carried out every two years to monitor Santa Catarina’s competitiveness in the area. The last edition, held in 2017, shows that the logistics cost of Santa Catarina companies (R$ 0.14 per real billed) is above the national average (R$ 0.11) and above that observed in other countries, such as the United States ( BRL 0.08).
The study will be carried out by the Logistics Performance Laboratory of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and conducted by Professor Carlos Taboada. He highlighted that logistics is not just transportation, but also includes warehousing, inventory management, information processing and administration, and noted that values between segments cannot be compared due to the characteristics and regional location of each activity. Taboada exemplified that if a company that earns BRL 500 million a year manages to reduce logistics costs by one cent, it would save BRL 5 million in the year.
The professor explained the stages of the research, which starts with the companies joining and filling out the questionnaire. The team that conducts the survey follows up through various channels to clarify doubts. After the delivery of the questionnaires, the information is processed, the integration by sectors, regions and State is carried out and at the end of the year the companies will receive their diagnoses and the general presentation of the results will be made.
Companies interested in participating must send a request by email [email protected] and inform the CNPJ and corporate name. Afterwards, they will receive the encrypted questionnaire and the password for access. The deadline for returning completed questionnaires is the 7th of October.
