São Paulo – The governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite (PSDB), said on X, formerly Twitter, that his technical team’s initial calculations indicate that at least R$19 billion will be needed to rebuild the state, after the heavy rains that caused damage, considered the worst ever recorded in the history of Rio Grande do Sul.

Tragedy in numbers

The most recent figures released by the state government confirm 107 deaths, in addition to 136 missing and 374 injured. According to authorities, 425 municipalities have been affected since the start of intense rains in Rio Grande do Sul.
