Three workers, aged 31, 34 and 43, were trapped in a tree for more than eight hours after being swept away by the current of the river that invaded road 6, in the municipality of Caroebe, south of Roraima. They were safely rescued this Tuesday (7) by the Military Police and a firefighter.
The three were rescued after a co-worker went to the Military Police and reported that the victims had left for work, but had been missing since they passed through the submerged bridge and were swept away by the strong water.
A local firefighter lent a boat and, with the support of residents, the police began searching until they heard cries for help. The three were found trapped in vegetation. They said they didn’t know how to swim, that they were already without strength and had been in that situation for 8 hours.
The three were taken safely to the side of the road. According to the PM, the victims lost all their belongings. They didn’t want medical attention.
