Acre has more than 1,800 attempts to steal personal data

Identity fraud – when scammers steal personal data and try to impersonate other people to obtain financial advantages – totaled 1,852 cases in Acre in February, according to the most current data from Serasa.

In the country, in February, the modality registered a new drop in the Serasa Experian Fraud Attempts Indicator. This time, 0.1% compared to the same month in 2023. During the period, 3,485 occurrences were recorded for every million inhabitants in Brazil, totaling 756,576.

“Taking care of personal data is a daily task, even when the indicator shows a decrease in identity fraud attempts. Consumers need to be aware of the security of their information, especially in online environments. Likewise, companies need to continue shielding their systems with layered authentication and fraud prevention solutions to identify who is who”, declares the Director of Authentication and Fraud Prevention at Serasa Experian, Caio Rocha.

The February Fraud Attempt Indicator survey indicated that the Southeast and South continued to lead the ranking of Federative Units in occurrences. The annual variation revealed that the drop in investigations was registered by 8 states and the rest showed an increase.
