See how things are going at the electoral registry in Palmas

The last day to regularize the electoral registration or issue the 1st copy of the Voter ID card is seeing a lot of movement in the electoral offices of Tocantins. In Palmas and Araguaína, the state’s largest cities, the lines doubled blocks and the Electoral Court had to set up tents to accommodate voters.

According to information from TRE, the situation in which the majority of irregular voters find themselves is because they were absent from previous elections, the “absent voter”. An “absent voter” is considered to be anyone who has not voted in three consecutive elections, without justifying their absence.

In recent weeks, electoral offices have had extended opening hours and worked on weekends and holidays. This Wednesday (8) the service continues until 6pm and voters who arrive by this time will receive a password to be attended.

“Today is the last day for any Electoral Justice service. So, it is very important that the voter either seeks self-service online or comes to the electoral registry”, explained the head of the registry office of the 29th Electoral Zone of Palmas, Ana Cecília Catapan.

For non-face-to-face regularization, voters can seek electoral services through the Virtual Voter Service Center (Cave), an initiative of the Regional Electoral Court of Tocantins (TRE), active since January 2022. Access the Cave here.

Cave functions as the main voter service channel. As a second option, TRE also has contact via WhatsApp or a regular call, on 0800 6486 800, all free of charge and without the need to travel.

The virtual service is not valid for issuing the 1st title.

“With the exception of the first title, where we need to collect biometrics, the other services are available online. So, voters who need to regularize their electoral situation, transfer their address or review their data can search for services online. We have up to five days to respond, but what counts is the voter’s request. If he makes the request by today, it will be answered,” he said.
