MS receives 9th shipment with over 92 thousand doses of the Influenza vaccine

The Government of Mato Grosso do Sul, through the State Department of Health (SES), received this Tuesday (7) another 92 thousand doses of the Influenza vaccine. Since the start of the campaign on March 18, this is the 9th shipment that the State has received from the Ministry of Health, totaling 885,170 doses of the vaccine. Of this total, 793,170 doses have already been distributed to the 79 municipalities of MS.

According to the SES Immunization Coordinator, Ana Paula Rezende Goldfinger, with the arrival of the new shipment of vaccines to the State, they will be made available through the use of doses already delivered to the municipalities. “We are monitoring the doses sent and used,” explains Goldfinger.

The Influenza vaccine can be administered at the same time as other vaccines on the National Vaccination Calendar. Immunization (against Influenza) continues until May 31st in the State.

Children who will receive the vaccine for the first time must take two doses, 30 days apart.

Last Thursday (2) SES expanded the offer of the Influenza vaccine to the entire non-immunized population, from 6 months of age, in Mato Grosso do Sul. The campaign aims to increase the number of people immunized and reduce the circulation of viruses.

The expansion of vaccine supply to the general population also occurs as a form of preventive measure to alleviate symptoms of flu syndrome and severe acute respiratory syndrome, especially in children, contributing to reducing the demand for outpatient care and hospitalizations during the autumn and winter period. in Brazil.

“The increase in immunized people contributes to less circulation of viruses and prevents overload on health services. We need to increase vaccination coverage regardless of groups”, says Ana Paula.

The vaccine used against Influenza is trivalent, that is, it presents three types of virus strains in combination – A (H1N1); A (H3N2) and B (B/Victoria lineage) – protecting against the main viruses in circulation.
