The Italian government, led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, lamented the tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul and offered help to the Brazilian people affected by the historic floods in the State.
On Sunday (5), the Italian Prime Minister said through a post on social media that she received the news with “pain” and that the Italian government would provide support to the affected population. “With pain, I learn of the terrible flood that hit Rio Grande do Sul, leaving the city of Porto Alegre, in Brazil, on its knees. My most sincere condolences and those of the Italian government to the affected populations,” he said.
Italy’s Defense Minister, Guido Crosseto, also spoke about the tragedy, offering support to “all those facing this terrible ordeal”. In the publication, Crosseto said that the country is prepared to contribute to aid for the victims.
Other countries also offered help to Brazil to face the catastrophe in recent days. This Monday (6), the Argentine government, led by Javier Milei, said that it is at Brazil’s disposal to collaborate on behalf of flood victims in the southern region.
“As a result of the serious floods in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the Government of the Argentine Republic, through the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Security and the White Helmets Commission of this Chancellery, offered the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil its full collaboration,” Casa Rosada said in a statement.
Over the weekend, the Venezuelan regime, Lula’s ally, and Uruguay also offered help to the Brazilian people. The Uruguayan government said it would send a helicopter and crew from its Air Force to assist in rescuing the victims.
