A 76-year-old motorcyclist died after being hit by a truck in the center of Monte Santo. According to the Military Police, the truck was charred due to the collision and the driver left the scene.
Witnesses told the police that the elderly man entered Avenida Codespar, highway TO-080, on the wrong side of the road and was pressed against the curb by the truck that was heading in the same direction, around 5pm this Monday (6).
While responding to the incident, the police received information that the 31-year-old truck driver had called saying he was at the gas station, available to the courts. He reported that he did not see the motorcycle, and that he had left the place for fear of reprisal from the public.
The driver was taken to the Federal Highway Police station to perform a blood alcohol test, which came back negative. He was then taken to the Flagrantes Center for the appropriate legal procedures.
The name of the driver was not released, so the g1 he couldn’t make contact with his defense.
Technical Expertise was at the scene and the victim’s body was taken to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) of Paraíso do Tocantins.
