Victor Fernandes Dantas has lived in the city of Gramado since 2022, but, alongside the other volunteers, he has been going down the mountains every day to the most affected regions, especially the cities of Três Coroas and Igrejinha. The trip takes around 40 minutes to the municipalities.
According to Victor, many of the homes were invaded by floods and were filled with mud.
As the water level has dropped In these locations in recent days – after the rains and the flood of the Paranhana River – the group has managed to enter homes, hotels and other establishments to clean and reorganize properties.
“As we were not so affected [em Gramado]we are helping cities where the situation has become more complicated”, said the real estate agent from Rio Grande do Norte.
He explained that the group cleaned a hotel this week where 35 children were sheltering. The group was assembled in around 2 hours and had the support of local populations, who have also helped with the service.
Victor also said that the group is saving money to buy food and hygiene and cleaning items to deliver to isolated families. Furthermore, They have been working to get food and water for stray dogs and cats.
The motivation for its own collection, according to the broker, is the delay for supplies to arrive through other actions from other states in Brazil.
“With this contribution, we make the purchases and distribute them directly to the people. Because no supplies are arriving. Help is coming from everywhere, but the logistics are very complicated to get things to us, many roads are down,” he said.
“As we are close, we can buy things and do it faster for the population. If we had to wait for it to arrive, people would die of hunger”, he reinforced.
