Chaired by state deputy Pablo Roberto (PSDB), the Commission on Human Rights and Public Security of the Legislative Assembly of Bahia (AL-BA) held this Tuesday (7/5) a public hearing to discuss the Bill for the Bahia program For Peace, prepared by the Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT) government.

The debate was proposed by state deputy Robinson Almeida (PT) and included the participation of state secretaries Felipe Freitas, of Justice and Human Rights (SJDH), and Marcelo Werner, of Public Security (SSP).

The Bahian government delivered the program to the Legislative Assembly in March this year. The project was prepared in an inter-institutional manner by the Governance Committee of the Social Defense System, composed of the leaders of the three Powers (Executive, Legislative and Judiciary) and representatives of the institutions of the Justice System, such as the Public Ministry and the Public Defender’s Office. .

Pablo Roberto considered that the audience with authorities linked to security was fundamental for the progress of the program in the House. “An important debate to strengthen Public Security in Bahia, which must now move to the plenary”, said the parliamentarian.

According to the deputy, the idea of the discussion aims at “approval and supervision so that the government can address the alarming rates of violence to which all of us Bahians are exposed”.
