Four pairs, made up of military firefighters and search dogs, were sent this Tuesday (7/5) to assist in operations in Bento Gonçalves. This dispatch complements the group of 39 military firefighters already deployed to the region the previous day.
The resources sent to Rio Grande do Sul include two vehicles, two trucks, a mini hydraulic excavator, a quadricycle and four specialized firefighters. This team, initially scheduled for a week of action, will later be replaced by a new team of binomials, reinforcing the Santa Catarina workforce working in the catastrophe.
+ São José and Florianópolis send donations to RS and have points open for collection
Santa Catarina, in addition to being the first state to send support to Rio Grande do Sul, maintains the largest team of military firefighters operating in the neighboring state, surpassing corporations from all other states in the country.
The Santa Catarina Military Fire Department (CBM) stands out internationally for its search service with dogs. This specialization is crucial in natural or technological disasters, interventions in landslides, rescues from collapsed structures, water rescue and land search.
According to Colonel Walter Parizotto, president of the CBMSC Search, Rescue and Rescue Service Coordination with Dogs, the efficiency of a binomial is equivalent to that of a team of 30 men in terms of territorial coverage and effectiveness.
