Sergipe will send a new team to help with rescues in RS

Professionals from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu 192 Sergipe) are traveling to the state of Rio Grande do Sul, where they will provide support in the rescue and care of victims of the rains that hit the south of Brazil. The professionals who will work on the mission are specialists in urgent and emergency situations, trained by the Aeromedical Service to guarantee quick and safe pre-hospital assistance at the time of rescue.

In total, there will be 12 professionals, five nurses, four doctors and a nursing technician who make up the Aeromedical Service of Sergipe. In addition to the team, two more people will work in the organization, at the invitation of the Ministry of Health (MS). The professionals will serve for ten days in the regions affected by the rains in Rio Grande do Sul, and team members may be replaced if necessary.

According to the superintendent of Samu 192 Sergipe, Denisson Pereira, the team aims to join efforts in rescuing the victims. “In this first moment, those who have the specialization and knowledge of air rescue were requested. They are qualified professionals for this type of service, which is the first phase of rescue focused on search and rescue”, explained the superintendent.

Part of the Samu 192 Sergipe team was already transferred to Rio Grande do Sul last Sunday, the 5th, the second part will go to the mission this Monday, the 6th. It is important to highlight that there will be no change in the service schedules at Samu 192 Sergipe that operate in the state.

Scenery in the South

The number of deaths resulting from the storms that hit Rio Grande do Sul rose to 83, according to the bulletin released by the Civil Defense this Monday morning, 6.

In total, 148 municipalities were affected by heavy rains in the southern state. In addition, there are 111 missing and 276 people injured. A total of 141.3 thousand people are outside their homes, 19.3 thousand in shelters and 121.9 thousand homeless. According to information from the Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul, 850,000 people were affected across the state.
