A Bill (PL) is being processed in the Legislative Assembly of the State of Santa Catarina (Alesc) that aims to integrate school cameras from the state network, with the intelligence center of the Military Police of Santa Catarina.

The initiative amends Law No. 18,643, of April 26, 2023, authored by deputy Jair Miotto (União Brasil), which deals with the installation of security cameras in state public schools.
The project proposes to integrate these surveillance systems with the Santa Catarina Military Police Intelligence Center for real-time monitoring of SC school facilities.
School cameras: integration with the PM seeks to reduce insecurity
The proposal’s main focus is to strengthen the capacity to monitor, prevent and repress suspicious and criminal activities within the school environment.
According to the project, the integration will provide a faster response to emergency situations, contributing to a safer and more secure school environment for students, teachers and staff.
In a note, SSP-SC states that the project is in the study phase
“The State Secretariat for Public Security of Santa Catarina (SSP-SC) emphasizes that the expansion of the video monitoring system is in the study and evaluation phase and also analyzing the implementation of new systems that can enhance the application in this regard.
The Public Security Secretariat is in constant discussion to improve security measures in schools, through the Escola + Segura Program and the strengthening of joint and integrated actions being developed by the SC Security forces, Military Police, Civil Police, Fire Department Military of SC and the Scientific Police, with the State Department of Education as a partner in the actions”.
The project goes to the state governor, Jorginho Mello, for approval.
