The official parades of Special Group now they will have one more day. In addition to the traditional presentations on Sunday and Monday, the public will also be able to watch on Tuesday Carnival. The decision was taken this Monday (06/05), after long negotiations between the Independent League of Samba Schools of Rio de Janeiro (Liesa), sponsors, schools and organizers.
In this new configuration, which will be valid for 2025, four schools will perform each day. The decision was endorsed by the presidents of the 12 associations that make up Liesa during a plenary session.
Therefore, also in an unprecedented decision, the judges’ scores will be closed at the end of each day. Therefore, the United of Father Miguelcurrent champion of Gold Series, will open on Sunday, March 2nd. Already the Unidos da Tijuca, 11th placed in the Special Group in the previous year, it will open the parades on Monday and on Tuesday there will be Mocidade, which came in 10th place in 2024, opening the night of presentations.
The rest will be divided into triplets with the order being defined in the draw on the 23rd in Cidade do Samba: Mangueira, Portela and Beija-Flor/Grande Rio, Viradouro and Salgueiro/Paraíso do Tuiuti, Vila Isabel and Imperatriz Leopoldinense.
“Within this initiative, we want to enable a reduction in the price of stands, with the aim of making tickets even more affordable. We will also ensure that more people are at the Sambadrome on different days“, highlighted the president of Liesa, Gabriel David.
With the change in the Special Group, the junior parades will move to a new day of the week, which will still be chosen in agreement with the Aesm-Riothe organization responsible for children’s presentations, and with public authorities.
It is worth noting that the counting of grades will continue on Ash Wednesday. The Parade of Champions is also held on Saturday, March 8th, with the top six placed celebrating the result.
